Hi, I am Judi and I own Kraftarma. I have been creative my whole life and had dreams of having a craft store when I was as young as 8 years old. Back then I called myself Crafty Arts.
My life led me into social care starting in the support world. I then moved into homelessness services, the mental health sector and addictions field. I wouldn't change that for the world, I am honoured to have worked with amazing people who just needed a bit of support as we all do from time to time.
I was also lucky enough to introduce arts and crafts to the services I worked in over the years and came to appreciate the benefits of this on a larger scale. Apart from fun and creativity I found it actually helped in many areas such as brain injury, development, motor skills, mental health and social skills. In fact in some cases I saw it improve peoples literacy and writing skills.
So fast forward many many years, cough cough, and here I am providing craft workshops in Cumbernauld. I have had customers from further afield such as Kirkintilloch, Kilsyth, Hamilton, Falkirk and even Alloa. I love that we are creating smiles everywhere.
Colour and crafts can be used for emotional support and exploration. The history and benefits of colour is massive. If you ever come to visit or join in a craft workshop or class you will see that the venue is very colourful as I believe it should be.
The name changed a little from Crafty Arts to Kraftarma which is Karma and Crafts squished together. The metaphor is about creating joy and smiles and passing this on. People smile when they see what they can make and pass this on by gifting their creations or causing smiles when they wear or display what they have made.
The world can never have too many smiles, so why not give your confidence a boost and spread some smiles by joining me at one of the craft workshops. If there is something you would like to try but don't see it, drop me a message and I will do all I can to make it available.
Have a skill or craft you would like to share? Drop me a message and we can work together in providing the learning to others.
Hope to see you soon. x
